WHO WE ARE

OUR NAME'S ORIGIN:

Our founder's main source of inspiration has long been her mother, born in Porto Alegre, Brazil, her maiden name starting with “Z.” Coupled with that, Francesca always dreamed she would call her first child Sienna, yet in time embraced this project as her true firstborn.

Taking “Port” from “Porto” and changing “S” in “Sienna” to “Z,” Francesca found a way to honor her mother, and the name PORT ZIENNA was born.

Who We Are

Meet Our Founder

Port Zienna’s Founder and Creative Director, Francesca Canepa, was born in Lima, Perú. Her career started at Istituto Marangoni London, following a BA in Fashion Design and Patternmaking from Mod’Art International in Paris. After working in the industry for several years, she obtained a postgraduate degree in Fashion Marketing and Merchandising from the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York, earning further design experience at premier fashion houses, such as Oscar de la Renta and J. Mendel. Francesca later became an Embroidery Designer for Finesse, where she created detailed embroideries for Burberry, Tom Ford, Carolina Herrera, Oscar de la Renta and Monique Lhuillier.

After years of working for inspiring mentors, she began exploring how to best minimize waste in the manufacturing of garments, while ensuring equitable work practices. Port Zienna began as a personal project to her, and ended up as the sustainable ready-to-wear brand that it is today.
