PORT ZIENNA: A SUSTAINABLE BRAND.
COMMITTED TO TRANSPARENCY.
Fashion is one of the world’s most polluting industries and largest consumers of water. It’s also known for its exploitation of workers, who typically earn less than $3 per day.
In contrast, Port Zienna is led by the intention to make luxurious products with the least environmental impact. Furthermore, we offer fair wages and ethical working conditions, ensuring all employees are treated with dignity and respect.
For us, it’s all about transparency—and the values we share with you.
SOCIALLY SUSTAINABLE FACTORY.
At Port Zienna, our goal is to support the well-being of our family of artisans, designers and makers. Toward this end, we provide a healthy work environment, steady income and flexibility for all our employees.
We are also able to closely monitor our practices to ensure they remain wholly ethical, since Port Zienna does not outsource or rely on third parties. Rather, all our manufacturing processes are based in one factory, located in our founder’s home country of Peru.
ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY FABRICS.
Port Zienna garments are made exclusively from sustainable fabrics. We offer the best quality we can possibly find, thereby minimizing our carbon footprint.
We do not use polyester, exotic skins, leather, feathers or fur in our collections. Port Zienna sources only the finest eco-friendly materials, such as certified organic cotton from Peru and Turkey, and linen, cupro, lyocell, Tencel and Modal from Japan.
It is our hope that you will see your Port Zienna apparel as an investment—in sustainability as well as in everyday pleasure.
Modal® is an eco-friendly cellulose fiber that is extracted from sustainably managed beechwood forests in northern and central Europe. Textiles made of Lenzing Modal® are pleasantly soft and breathable, offering UV protection. Minimal water is used in the production of Modal®.
Our GOTS-certified cotton is 100% organic—free of all pesticides, insecticides, herbicides and genetically modified organisms. The toxins used in growing nonorganic cotton are harmful for farmers, workers, consumers and the environment overall. We partner with organic cooperatives in Peru and Turkey, which help us ensure the fabrics we use are of superior quality.
Tencel®—another Lenzing brand—is a natural cellulose fiber made without the use of pesticides or insecticides. Production involves extraction from eucalyptus trees, which require no irrigation. Water is used only to process the eucalyptus pulp into Tencel fiber. In fact, Lenzing estimates that up to 20 times less water is needed for Tencel than for cotton.
Cupro is a regenerated cellulose fiber, produced by treating cotton cellulose with cuprammonium salt. Cupro fabrics look and feel like silk on the skin. They drape beautifully yet are highly durable, and their environmental impact is minimal.
In today’s world of fast fashion, companies tend to produce high volumes of low-priced clothing at the expense of their workers and the environment. Port Zienna is part of a small but growing body of ethical producers.
We invite you therefore to become a conscious consumer and share our values:
Invest in clothing that is made from sustainably sourced materials.
Become a minimalist by buying less.
And support our community of independent designers.
