Fashion is one of the world’s most polluting industries and largest consumers of water. It’s also known for its exploitation of workers, who typically earn less than $3 per day.

In contrast, Port Zienna is led by the intention to make luxurious products with the least environmental impact. Furthermore, we offer fair wages and ethical working conditions, ensuring all employees are treated with dignity and respect.

For us, it’s all about transparency—and the values we share with you.

At Port Zienna, our goal is to support the well-being of our family of artisans, designers and makers. Toward this end, we provide a healthy work environment, steady income and flexibility for all our employees.

We are also able to closely monitor our practices to ensure they remain wholly ethical, since Port Zienna does not outsource or rely on third parties. Rather, all our manufacturing processes are based in one factory, located in our founder’s home country of Peru.

Port Zienna garments are made exclusively from sustainable fabrics. We offer the best quality we can possibly find, thereby minimizing our carbon footprint.

We do not use polyester, exotic skins, leather, feathers or fur in our collections. Port Zienna sources only the finest eco-friendly materials, such as certified organic cotton from Peru and Turkey, and linen, cupro, lyocell, Tencel and Modal from Japan.

It is our hope that you will see your Port Zienna apparel as an investment—in sustainability as well as in everyday pleasure.

Modal® is an eco-friendly cellulose fiber that is extracted from sustainably managed beechwood forests widely found in northern and central Europe. Textiles of Lenzing Modal® are pleasantly soft and breathable, offering UV protection. Minimal water is used in Modal®'s production.

Organic Cotton

Our 100% GOTS certified organic cotton is free of pesticides, insecticides, herbicides and genetically modified organisms. The toxins used in growing non-organic cotton are harmful for farmers, workers, us as consumers, and the entire ecosystem. Our partners are organic cooperatives in Peru and Turkey to ensure our fibers are superior in quality.

Tencel® is a natural cellulose fiber that is extracted from Eucalyptus trees. While Eucalyptus trees don’t need irrigation, water is still used to process the pulp and turn it into Tencel fiber. Lenzing estimates its water use at 155 gallons per pound of fiber, which is 80% less than cotton. Tencel production is done without the use of pesticides or insecticides .

Cupro is a regenerated cellulose fiber that is produced by treating cotton cellulose with cuprammonium salt. Cupro fabrics are silky-smooth, durable fabric that drapes beautifully, and look and feels like silk on your skin, having the benefit of a lower environmental impact on our earth.

In today’s world of fast fashion, companies tend to produce high volumes of low-priced clothing at the expense of their workers and the environment. Port Zienna is part of a small but growing body of ethical producers.

We invite you therefore to become a conscious consumer and share our values:
Invest in clothing that is made from sustainably sourced materials.
Become a minimalist by buying less.
And support our community of independent designers.
